I am part of a book club with a wonderful group of ladies and the April book was All the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda. Everyone who finished the book very much enjoyed it and wasn’t expecting how the book played out. Here is my book review! The book is a psychological thriller that tells the story of two girls who went missing a decade apart. Their disappearances are similar and brings back memories for the lead character Nicolette. The story is told backwards. Nicolette’s best friend went missing and no one was ever able to figure out what happened. a decade later Annaleise goes missing. The story of Annaleise and eventually her best friend Corinne is told backwards starting with day 15 and working back to day 1.
The book has a lot of unexpected information that you find out about Nicolette’s brother, Nicolette’s dad and her friends. She has to decide between her current boyfriend and the one she walked away from so many years ago. She ends up finding out what really happened and who her loyal friends and family are. In the end she ends up finding out the truth while covering up for those people that stood by her and hid the truth from her.
This was one of my favorite books that we have read in the last year. I am usually able to guess at least partly what happened in the books we read and I had this one all wrong. What happened, how they happened and who was involved was a nice surprise. The book was a little bit hard to grasp at first since the information is being delivered to you backwards but a few chapters in and you get the hang of it. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good fiction book to read this summer!
