I’ve been working on some exciting things in the last few weeks. One of those things is interviews with working moms! These women are those who went back to their jobs after the birth of their child, women who took time off to stay home with their children and then went back to work and women who started their own business.
It’s nice to know how moms handle their work life with their kids. It reminds us all that we are not alone and everyone out there goes through the same struggles, trials, and tribulations that we all go through. The other reason I thought these interviews would be good stems from a conversation I had with my best friend. She mentioned how hard it was going to be for her to find a job when her youngest went to preschool in 2 years. Her oldest is 8 so she will be out of the work force for 10 years. I was initially very surprised by this comment. We are in our mid 30’s so I still think of that as young for the work force. She is intelligent, has great computer skills and someone I would think would be a great hire. However, when I stopped to think about it, she may have a hard time finding a job. Employers don’t necessarily care about how intelligent you are or how well you can pick up on things, they want to know where you have been.
This series is meant to help moms get through their struggles by highlighting the way moms dealt with their issues and thrived after having kids. Is it going to be more difficult to find a job after being a stay at home mom? Yes it probably is. Should that stop you? Absolutely not. So many of you have so much to offer employers that it should definitely not stop you.
Maybe going back into the corporate world is not for you. Maybe, your calling is to start your own business or blog. Is that something you have even thought about? If it’s not then take a moment and think about what you really want to do. If you aren’t sure and want to chat then let’s chat! Have a consult call with me and let’s see if running your own business is something that would work for you.
